Quick verdict: one bell does two jobs
Golden Winner is Inspired's online version of a classic pub-style fruit machine: five reels, three rows, ten fixed lines, sevens, BARs and fruit. The base game is traditional to the point of being plain. What makes it worth a closer look is the bonus, where one symbol, the golden bell, does two jobs at once. Every bell collects the values shown on cherry symbols, and every bell also moves a 12-step trail forward that adds spins and raises the multiplier on those cherries.
That single loop explains why a medium-volatility game with a 94.5% top RTP and a 2,500x ceiling still has a clear route to its bigger results. It is not a complex slot, and it doesn't pretend to be. It suits people who want to understand exactly how a bonus builds without memorising a long rules page.

The bell trail, from the first scatter to the 10x multiplier
Most of Golden Winner's value sits in the free spins, so it makes sense to start there.
Getting in
Land three or more Bonus scatters anywhere in the base game:
| Scatters | Free spins |
|---|---|
| 3 | 10 |
| 4 | 15 |
| 5 | 20 |
Inspired's own page describes the round as starting with a minimum of 10 free spins, which matches the three-scatter award.
What the cherries do in the round
During free spins, cherry symbols carry values. Those values are widely reported to range from 1x to 100x the stake per cherry. On their own, cherries with values don't pay those amounts. They wait to be collected.
What the bells do in the round
Golden bells are both the Wild and the collector. Inspired describes them collecting all the values from the golden cherry symbols in view. So when a bell lands, every cherry value on the screen at that moment is added together and awarded.
The same bell also moves the trail above the reels forward one step. That is the double role at the centre of the game: a bell pays now and improves later spins at the same time.
How the trail is built
The trail has 12 increments split into three stages. Every fourth bell completes a stage, and each completed stage:
- Awards 10 extra free spins.
- Raises the multiplier applied to cherry values.
The stages lift the cherry multiplier to 2x, then 3x, then 10x. In practice:
- Bells 1 to 3 collect cherry values at their shown value.
- Bell 4 completes stage one: +10 spins, cherries now at 2x.
- Bell 8 completes stage two: +10 spins, cherries now at 3x.
- Bell 12 completes stage three: +10 spins, cherries now at 10x.
Because the extra spins come from the same bells that raise the multiplier, filling the trail tends to extend the round at the point it becomes most valuable. A round that reaches stage three has at least 30 extra spins on top of its starting award, with every later bell collecting cherries at ten times their shown value.
Why this loop matters more than the paytable
The top line win in the base game is 200x, for five bells or five red sevens. Stage-three collections can go well beyond that: a single screen with several cherries carrying mid-range values, collected by a bell at 10x, adds up quickly. That is the main route toward the 2,500x cap, and it only exists inside the bonus.
The base game: ten lines of sevens, BARs and fruit
Outside the bonus, Golden Winner plays like the fruit machine it is based on. Wins pay left to right across 10 fixed lines. The paytable is commonly listed as follows, shown as multiples of the stake:
| Symbol | 5 on a line | 4 on a line | 3 on a line | 2 on a line |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Golden Bell, Red 7 | 200x | 20x | 5x | 0.5x |
| Blue 7 | 100x | 15x | 3x | – |
| BAR symbols | 50x | 10x | 2x | – |
| Golden Cherries | 20x | 5x | 1x | – |
| Watermelon, grapes, plums, oranges, berries, cherries | 10x | 2.5x | 0.5x | – |
A few details stand out:
- Bells and red sevens share the top value and are the only symbols that pay for two on a line.
- Golden cherries have their own line value (up to 20x) separate from the collection values they carry in the bonus. Inspired's page describes them as representing mixed pays across line wins.
- Six fruit symbols share one row of values, which keeps the paytable short.
Reading the table from right to left tells you what an ordinary spin looks like. Most fruit pays 0.5x for three on a line, so a single small line win returns half the stake. Finishing a spin ahead of the bet needs a stronger symbol, such as three BARs at 2x or three blue sevens at 3x, or several lines landing together. Five-of-a-kind results are rare on any fruit machine layout, which is why the 200x top line figure matters far less to the game's character than the bonus does.
Fortune Bet, Fortune Spins and Gamble: three ways to change the math
Inspired lists Fortune Bet and Fortune Spins as optional variants in certain jurisdictions, alongside a Gamble feature. Each changes the game in a different direction.
Fortune Bet
Fortune Bet raises the cost of each spin by 50%. In return, the reels use stacked (oversized) Bonus scatters, which makes the free spins more likely to trigger. The trigger chance is widely reported to double. The mode is also commonly described as leading to up to 50 free spins, which matches a five-scatter start of 20 spins plus all three trail stages of 10. You pay more per spin for more frequent access to the bell trail; the trail itself doesn't change.
Fortune Spins
Fortune Spins is a separate mode that removes most regular symbols from the reels. What remains are cherries, Bonus scatters and wild bells. With the fruit, sevens and BARs gone, the reels behave much more like the bonus: bells land and collect cherry values directly. Inspired's sequel describes the same mode as one that "enhances the bonus hit rate", and Golden Winner's version is widely described the same way.
Gamble
After a qualifying win, commonly listed as 5x the stake or more, you can risk the win on a Gamble feature. It is described as a pie or wheel-style game with two outcomes: a bigger award, or free spins. The risk is losing the win entirely. Like any gamble feature, it doesn't change the long-run return in your favour; it only turns a certain win into an uncertain one.
RTP 94.5% or 92%: what the two versions change
Golden Winner comes in two configurations: 94.5% and 92%. Over a very large number of spins, the 94.5% version is designed to return 94.5% of all stakes, and the 92% version 92%. The difference is 2.5 percentage points of the total amount wagered. The rules, features and paytable look the same in both; the difference sits in how often things land.
94.5% is below the 96% region many online slots aim for. That reflects Golden Winner's retail fruit machine roots, where lower returns are common. It is worth knowing when comparing it with other online titles.
Medium volatility means the return is spread more evenly than in high-volatility games. You get more frequent small line wins and fewer long dry spells, with the bonus trail responsible for the bigger results. The rating comes from Inspired's official page. Some listings show High instead; Inspired's own rating is the one used here. Neither RTP nor volatility says anything about what happens on the next spin.
Where the 2,500x ceiling sits
The max win is listed as 2,500x the stake. Inspired's own page expresses its ceiling as a fixed figure rather than a multiple of the stake, so the multiple you can reach before the cap depends on the stake level. Some listings give a slightly different multiple for that reason; the route to the top is the same either way.
Reaching the top end requires the bell trail to do most of the work:
- Trigger free spins, ideally with 4 or 5 scatters for 15 or 20 starting spins.
- Complete stages of the trail with bells, adding spins each time.
- Reach stage three, where cherry values are collected at 10x.
- Land bells alongside several high-value cherries during those 10x spins.
With cherry values up to 100x each, the 10x stage is where the numbers get large. The 2,500x cap limits how far a single sequence can go.
Golden Winner Grand Chance and the rest of the Winner family
Golden Winner has become a franchise for Inspired, and its direct sequel is verified on Inspired's own site.
Golden Winner Grand Chance
Inspired calls Golden Winner Grand Chance the successor to Golden Winner. It launched online at the end of May 2025 across the UK, Gibraltar and MGA jurisdictions, and Inspired later described it as the most successful UK and European iGaming launch in its history, with over 200,000 unique players, 25% day-one retention and 40% of players returning weekly. It reached UK retail machines later in 2025.
What it keeps:
- 5x3 reels and 10 lines.
- RTP options of 94.5% and 92%.
- Three or more Bonus symbols trigger free spins, up to 20.
- A 12-position bell trail with three upgrade stages.
- Fortune Spins, Fortune Bet and Gamble.
What it adds:
- Grand Chance Cherry, available in Fortune Spins and the Bonus, which reveals a prize pot. Inspired's product page puts the potential at up to 250x the stake.
- Bell announcements that can drop in any game mode, offering guaranteed wins or symbol upgrades.
- Gold bar stacking, which can trigger a separate free spins feature of up to 15 spins.
- A Gamble feature that can multiply wins up to 10x or award 30 free spins.
- Bonus Buy for direct access to the bonus round.
The comparison is straightforward. The original is the stripped-back version: one bonus loop, no bonus buy and no extra modifiers. Grand Chance keeps the bell trail and builds several side routes around it.
Other family titles
Inspired also lists Golden Halloween Winner and Piggy Winner, which it describes alongside Golden Winner and Grand Chance as among its most-played UK titles. The Grand Chance format has since been rethemed as Centurion Winner Grand Chance and Golden Horsey Winner Grand Chance.
Who Golden Winner suits
Golden Winner suits players who like classic fruit machine symbols and short, readable rules. The bonus is easy to follow: count bells, watch the trail, see the multiplier rise. Medium volatility and a paytable full of small line wins make for steadier sessions than most modern slots.
It is a weaker fit for players who look first at RTP, since 94.5% is below many online alternatives and a 92% version also exists. Players who want bonus buys or several stacked features will find more in Grand Chance.
Where Golden Winner works and where it doesn't
Pros
- One clear bonus loop: bells collect cherry values and move the multiplier trail at the same time.
- Trail stages add 10 spins each, extending the round as the multiplier rises to 10x.
- Medium volatility with frequent low line wins.
- Optional Fortune Bet and Fortune Spins let you change how often the bonus mechanic appears.
Cons
- 94.5% top RTP is low for an online slot, and a 92% version exists.
- Base game features are minimal; almost all of the variety sits in free spins.
- Max win is modest at 2,500x, and Inspired states its cap as a fixed figure rather than a multiple.
