Summary judgement

Playtech is less a single studio than a full supplier. It makes slots, but it also builds platforms, live dealer products, poker, bingo and the systems operators use to run them. Its game catalogue reflects that range. You'll find linked jackpot slots, RNG table games and a steady mix of themed video slots. It's rarely the most daring studio in any one category, but it covers more categories than most.

On SlotsRanker, the Playtech game we list is a table game rather than a slot. That fits the studio well.

A company with two addresses

Playtech says it was founded in 1999 in Tartu, Estonia. Until 2006, the Tartu office was its only development centre, and Estonia is still its core platform development base. The company says its Estonian offices in Tartu and Tallinn employ more than 700 specialists.

Playtech plc is incorporated in the Isle of Man, and its registered office is in Douglas. Its head office and business address is in London, at MidCity Place on High Holborn, according to a 2025 stock exchange announcement. The company is listed on the London Stock Exchange's Main Market under the ticker PTEC and is part of the FTSE 250 index. It says it is licensed by the UK Gambling Commission and the Malta Gaming Authority.

Its investor site groups the business into platform, gaming, betting and services. Gaming covers casino, live, poker, bingo and retail products.

Age of the Gods and the linked jackpot model

Playtech's best-known slot franchise is Age of the Gods. Its design signature is a network of titles that share the same jackpot structure. When Playtech released Age of the Gods: God of Storms on 6 June 2017, it described the game as the eighth title in the series, with four linked progressive jackpots available on any spin. That game used five reels, 25 lines, stacked wilds and a Wild Wind respin feature with multipliers up to 5x.

This is a different approach from studios such as Pragmatic Play, which reuse a grid format across sequels. Here, what connects the games is the jackpot network. The reel features can vary from one title to the next.

The demo network we use carries 663 titles from Playtech.

Premium Blackjack: two products on one table

The Playtech game on our site is an RNG blackjack table:

GameTypeRTPReleased
Premium BlackjackBlackjack99.58%15 January 2016

The main game uses six decks, the dealer stands on all 17s and blackjack pays 3:2. You can play up to five hands per round. The 99.58% RTP assumes correct decisions on every hand. It is far higher than any slot on our site, but it describes the main hand only.

The Perfect Pairs and 21+3 side bets are separate wagers with their own paytables and lower returns. Our review found that the side bet RTP figures often quoted for this game actually come from a different, eight-deck Playtech variant. Worked out for six decks using the published paytable, Perfect Pairs comes to about 93.89% and 21+3 to about 95.38%. The practical point is simple: the headline 99.58% does not apply to the side bets.

Volatility isn't published for Premium Blackjack, and our spec table leaves it blank for that reason.

How to read Playtech's RTP figures

Because Playtech makes slots, jackpot games and table games, its RTP figures aren't directly comparable across its catalogue. A blackjack RTP depends on correct play and describes the main hand only. A linked jackpot slot sends part of each stake to the shared jackpots. We haven't found a Playtech document that sets out how many RTP versions it supplies per game, so we don't make general claims about lower builds. Check each game page for its own verified figures.

Who Playtech suits

Playtech suits players who want a traditional table game with clear rules, and players who like the idea of a jackpot linked across a series. It is less suited to players who want the newest high-volatility grid mechanics, which are more typical of studios like Hacksaw Gaming and Nolimit City.

Pros and cons

Pros

  • A broad catalogue covering slots, table games and live products.
  • Premium Blackjack's main game has a 99.58% RTP with correct play.
  • A long-running jackpot series with a shared structure.

Cons

  • Table game side bets have much lower returns than the headline RTP.
  • The large catalogue can make it hard to see a single design identity.
