Our take on Inspired

Inspired isn't primarily a slot studio. It's a gaming-technology group whose main businesses have been betting-shop terminals and virtual sports, and its online slots show that retail background. Golden Winner is essentially a pub fruit machine with a modern bonus loop added. That background makes the games unusually familiar to UK players. It also makes them modest in scale compared with online-first studios.

The 2016 acquisition, and who owns Inspired today

Inspired Gaming was acquired through a special-purpose acquisition company. On 23 December 2016, Hydra Industries Acquisition Corp. completed its business combination with Inspired Gaming Group. Inspired Gaming Group became a wholly owned subsidiary, and the combined company took the name Inspired Entertainment, Inc. It trades on Nasdaq under the ticker INSE. At the time of the deal, the company said it had headquarters in New York and London.

We checked for any later change of control and found none. Inspired's SEC filing of 18 May 2026, which announced a change of chief financial officer, still describes Inspired Entertainment, Inc. as the reporting company. The ownership position today is therefore the one created in 2016: Inspired Gaming sits under Inspired Entertainment, Inc.

The page for the game on our site gives the operating details. Inspired Gaming (UK) Limited is registered in Burton upon Trent, Staffordshire. It holds a Great Britain Gambling Commission licence, account 1090, and Malta Gaming Authority recognition. We couldn't confirm a founding year from a primary source, so that field is blank.

Terminals, virtual sports, then slots

In its 2016 announcement, Inspired described itself as a supplier of Virtual Sports, Mobile Gaming and Server-Based Gaming systems, with more than 25,000 digital gaming terminals. Its current website lists four divisions: Retail Solutions, Virtual Sports, Interactive and Hybrid Dealer.

The acquisition that matters most for its slots came in October 2019. That month, Inspired completed its purchase of Novomatic UK's Gaming Technology Group. The deal included six companies, among them Bell-Fruit Group Limited and AstraGames Limited. Bell-Fruit is a British fruit-machine business, and Inspired says Golden Winner comes from its Bell-Fruit studio.

Golden Winner: a fruit machine with a trail

Golden Winner is the Inspired title on SlotsRanker. Its verified specs:

SpecValue
RTP94.50%
VolatilityMedium
Max win2,500x
Release7 July 2023

Inspired's page describes a 5x3 slot with 10 lines and classic symbols. It triggers free spins from three bonus scatters, starting with at least 10 spins. A 12-step trail adds spins and raises a multiplier as it progresses. As our review explains, the golden bell does two jobs: it collects the values on cherry symbols, and it moves that trail forward.

The game also shows two optional modes that Inspired uses to vary the maths:

  • Fortune Bet raises the stake to 1.5x for better chances of reaching the bonus.
  • Fortune Spins removes non-collector symbols.

Both change how results are spread, not the fact that the game returns less than it takes over time.

What Inspired publishes about RTP

Inspired's Golden Winner page lists two RTP options, 92% and 94.5%, and describes the game as medium volatility. That's the only RTP information we could confirm at studio level. Both options sit below the 96% common among online-first studios, which fits a design brought over from retail machines. Our Golden Winner page uses the 94.5% version.

Who Inspired's slots suit

  • UK players who know pub fruit machines and want the same look with a clearer bonus.
  • Players who like a single, visible progression, such as a trail, rather than many overlapping features.
  • Anyone who prefers medium volatility with a moderate 2,500x ceiling.

Players looking for very high maximum wins, or grid-based mechanics, won't find much here.

Inspired at a glance: pros and cons

Pros

  • Clear, documented ownership through Nasdaq filings.
  • Genuine British fruit-machine heritage through the Bell-Fruit studio.
  • Game pages publish both RTP options and the volatility.

Cons

  • The RTP options on its game page, 92% and 94.5%, are lower than many online studios offer.
  • Online slots are a small part of a business focused on terminals and virtual sports.
