Quick verdict: same Zeus grid, but the multiplier rule finally changes
Gates of Olympus 2500 is Pragmatic Play's third mainline version of its 6x5 Zeus slot, and the studio lists it for release around 28 September 2026. On the surface not much has moved. Symbols still pay anywhere on the grid, winning symbols still tumble away, and multiplier orbs still add together before they are applied. The real change is in the bonus. Instead of one free spins round, a wheel picks one of four, and two of those four add every multiplier that lands to the running total, not only the ones that arrive with a win.
That one rule is the reason to look at this game rather than skip it as another reskin. Orb values now reach 2,500x, the maximum win is 25,000x the bet, and the published free spins frequency is about 1 in 443 spins. It is a high-volatility design for players who already know the series and want its ceiling pushed further. If the original felt swingy, this one is built to swing harder.

| Super Spins | Two levels |
| Bonus buy | Yes, four options from 100x to 1,250x the bet |
Pragmatic Play's own product page for the 2500 edition was not yet live when this review was written, so the mechanics below reflect the game as described at launch. Where a detail is still open, we say so, and the in-game rules are the final word.
Four bonus rounds behind one wheel
The bonus is where Gates of Olympus 2500 separates itself from the rest of the series, so it comes first.
Free spins trigger when four or more Zeus scatter symbols land anywhere on the grid during a base game spin. Before the round begins, the scatters pay in their own right:
- 4 scatters pay 3x the bet
- 5 scatters pay 5x the bet
- 6 or more scatters pay 100x the bet
The game then awards 15 free spins, and a wheel spins to decide which of the four modes those spins will use. The selection is random. Pragmatic has not published the wheel's weightings, so there is no public figure for how often each mode appears from a natural trigger. The only published lever on the wheel is the third ante bet level, which is widely reported to improve the chance of landing the better free spins types. More on that below.
The four modes fall into two pairs. Each pair shares a multiplier rule, and the "Super" version of each adds a floor under the orb values.
Free Spins 1: the rule the series has always used
In Free Spins 1, a multiplier orb only joins the total multiplier when it lands as part of a winning spin. When that happens, its value is added to the running total, and that total is applied to the win. The total carries forward through the round, so each later win that also includes an orb is multiplied by a larger number.
If an orb lands on a spin with no win, it does nothing. It is simply lost.
Pragmatic's official page for the original Gates of Olympus describes the same logic, so Free Spins 1 is the familiar round with bigger orbs in the pool.
Super Free Spins 1: the same rule with a 10x floor
Super Free Spins 1 keeps the win-only rule but guarantees a minimum orb value of 10x. The small orbs in the pool (2x, 3x, 4x, 5x, 6x and 8x) cannot appear, so every orb that joins the total adds at least 10x.
The Super modes also include a retrigger: three scatters during the round award five extra free spins. Whether the standard modes retrigger the same way is not yet confirmed, so check the in-game rules before counting on it.
Why "every orb counts" is the rule that matters
Free Spins 2: orbs count even on dead spins
Free Spins 2 is the biggest rule change from the original design. Every multiplier orb that lands is added to the total multiplier, whether or not the spin produces a win. The total then applies to every win for the rest of the round.
That changes how a round develops. Under the old rule, a blank spin with a large orb on it was a wasted opportunity. Under the Free Spins 2 rule, that orb still banks its value, and a win five or ten spins later inherits it.
A simple illustration of the arithmetic: say a 25x orb lands on a spin with no win, and a 15x orb lands on a later spin with no win. The total is now 40x. If a later tumble sequence then produces a win, that win is multiplied by at least 40x, plus any orbs that land with it. Under the Free Spins 1 rule, the same two orbs would have contributed nothing. The numbers here are only there to show how the rule works. They are not a prediction of what a round will produce.
Super Free Spins 2: both advantages at once
Super Free Spins 2 combines the collect-everything rule with the 10x minimum orb value, and it shares the three-scatter, five-spin retrigger described for the Super modes. Every orb that lands adds at least 10x to a total that applies to every win. Of the four modes it has the most direct route toward the top of the multiplier range.
How the buy prices rank the four modes
The studio does not publish per-mode RTP or average results, but the bonus buy prices show how differently it values each mode:
| Mode | Multiplier rule | Minimum orb | Buy price |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free Spins 1 | Orbs count only on winning spins | 2x | 100x the bet |
| Free Spins 2 | Every orb counts | 2x | 250x the bet |
| Super Free Spins 1 | Orbs count only on winning spins | 10x | 500x the bet |
| Super Free Spins 2 | Every orb counts | 10x | 1,250x the bet |
Switching to the "every orb counts" rule costs two and a half times as much (100x to 250x). The 10x floor is priced higher when every orb is kept: it takes the win-only mode from 100x to 500x, but the collect-everything mode from 250x to 1,250x. That fits the rules, because in Super Free Spins 2 every 10x-plus orb builds the total.
What happens on a normal spin
Outside the bonus, the base game works much like the earlier games. The 6x5 grid has no paylines. A win needs 8 or more matching symbols anywhere in view.
The symbol set is split in two:
- Five gems (blue, green, gold, purple and red) are the lower-paying symbols. For 12 or more, they pay between 2x and 10x the bet depending on the gem.
- Four premium symbols (cup, ring, hourglass and crown) pay between 12x and 50x the bet for 12 or more.
The smallest published pay is 0.25x the bet for 8 or 9 of the lowest gem. The largest regular symbol pay is 50x the bet for 12 or more of the top premium.
After any win, the Tumble feature removes the winning symbols, drops new symbols into the gaps from above and checks for new wins. This repeats until a drop produces no win.
Multiplier orbs land in the base game too, with values from 2x to 2,500x. The published value steps are 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x, 6x, 8x, 10x, 12x, 15x, 20x, 25x, 50x, 100x, 250x, 500x, 1,000x, 1,500x, 2,000x and 2,500x. At the end of a tumble sequence, every orb in view is added together and the total is applied to the win from that sequence. There is no running total in the base game. Each sequence starts fresh.
The published hit frequency is 1 in 3.58 spins, or 27.93%. That means some kind of win lands a little more than once every four spins over the long run. Many of those wins will be small 8-symbol gem combinations. The large results depend on orbs and the free spins round.
RTP and volatility: 96.52%, 95.50% or 94.50%
Gates of Olympus 2500 is built in three RTP versions: 96.52%, 95.50% and 94.50%. The ante and feature bets are widely listed at around 96.49% to 96.50%, so the special bet options sit very close to the standard figure.
RTP describes the return over a very large number of spins, not a session. At 96.52%, the design returns about 96.52 coins for every 100 staked across millions of spins. The 94.50% version returns about 94.50 per 100 over the same very long run, which is 2.02 fewer coins per 100 staked. Nothing changes on screen between the versions. The difference is built into the maths, and the version in use is normally shown in the game's information screen.
Volatility is rated high, and the published statistics show what that means for this game specifically:
- The free spins round triggers about once every 443 spins on average. Long stretches without one are a normal part of the design.
- A large share of the game's return is tied up in the free spins round and in rare high orbs, so base game play will often return less than the long-run RTP between bonuses.
- The published probability of reaching the maximum win is about 1 in 13,477,089 spins.
Each spin is independent. A long run without a bonus makes the next spin no more likely to trigger one.
The 25,000x ceiling and the route to it
The maximum win is 25,000x the bet. That is five times the original Gates of Olympus and 10,000x above Gates of Olympus 1000.
The published rules make it clear where a result that size would realistically come from:
- A very high orb. A single 2,500x orb applied to a 10x win reaches 25,000x by itself. Orbs that large sit at the very top of the value list and are rare by design.
- A large running total in free spins. In the modes that keep every orb, the total can build across all 15 spins (plus any retriggers), so several mid-range orbs can add up before a large win arrives.
- The Super modes' floor. With no orb below 10x, the total climbs faster in both Super modes.
It has not been confirmed whether a round ends immediately at the cap. With a published probability of about 1 in 13.48 million spins, the ceiling is a design limit, not a normal outcome.
Ante bets and Super Spins: changing the spin before it starts
Pragmatic has built five paid options around the standard spin. The first three raise the cost of each spin in exchange for better free spins odds. The other two guarantee orbs.
| Option | Cost per spin | What it changes |
|---|---|---|
| Ante Bet 1 | 1.25x the bet | Free spins trigger about 2x as often |
| Ante Bet 2 | 2.75x the bet | Free spins trigger about 8x as often |
| Ante Bet 3 | 5.5x the bet | About 8x the free spins chance, plus better odds of the stronger modes |
| Super Spin 1 | 20x the bet | At least one multiplier orb on every spin |
| Super Spin 2 | 250x the bet | At least one orb worth 25x or more on every spin |
Ante Bet 2 and 3 give the same published trigger improvement, so the extra cost of level 3 goes entirely toward tilting the wheel toward better modes. Free spins cannot trigger during either Super Spin option. With these options' RTP listed close to 96.52%, they change how results arrive, not the long-run return.
Buying a free spins mode directly
Gates of Olympus 2500 has a bonus buy with four options, one for each mode: 100x the bet for Free Spins 1, 250x for Free Spins 2, 500x for Super Free Spins 1 and 1,250x for Super Free Spins 2.
Buying skips the wheel, so the player picks the rule set. Gates of Olympus 1000, by contrast, had a single 100x buy. Here the top option costs 12.5 times the entry option, and any bought round can still return less than its price.
Gates of Olympus, 1000 and 2500 compared
These three games share a grid, a symbol theme and the tumble engine, but their numbers are not interchangeable. The table sets out the verified specs for each so they don't get mixed up.

| Hit frequency | Not covered here | 28.57% | 27.93% |
Gates of Olympus 1000 (2023) kept the 2021 original's structure almost untouched: orbs doubled to 1,000x, the maximum win tripled to 15,000x and the RTP stayed at 96.50%. In practice it played as the original with a higher ceiling.
Gates of Olympus 2500 is the first of the three to change how free spins work rather than just the numbers. That makes it a genuine step forward for the series, with the Free Spins 2 rule as the clearest example: a more extreme format with higher highs. The RTP moves slightly to 96.52%, and the hit frequency is slightly lower than the 1000 edition's published figure.
Who Gates of Olympus 2500 suits
This edition makes the most sense for players who know the Zeus grid and found the 1000 edition too close to the original. The four-mode wheel gives the bonus more variety than either earlier game.
It suits players comfortable with long gaps between features, since free spins arrive about once every 443 spins on average. It is a poor fit for anyone who wants steady, even results or dislikes a bought round returning less than its price.
Gates of Olympus 2500: the strong points and the drawbacks
Pros
- The "every orb counts" rule in Free Spins 2 and Super Free Spins 2 is a real mechanical change, not just a bigger number
- Orbs up to 2,500x and a 25,000x ceiling, the highest in the main series so far
- Four clearly priced buy options let players choose the rule set instead of relying on the wheel
- Top RTP version of 96.52% is marginally above both earlier games' 96.50%
Cons
- High volatility with a published free spins frequency of about 1 in 443 spins
- Wheel weightings for natural triggers are not published
- Lower RTP versions (95.50% and 94.50%) exist, and the version in use has to be checked in the game information
Gates of Olympus 2500 FAQ
What is the RTP of Gates of Olympus 2500?
The standard version is 96.52%. Pragmatic also built 95.50% and 94.50% versions. Ante bets and feature bets are listed at around 96.49% to 96.50%.
What is the maximum win?
25,000x the bet. The published probability of reaching it is about 1 in 13,477,089 spins.
How do you trigger free spins?
Land four or more Zeus scatters anywhere on the grid. Four pay 3x, five pay 5x and six or more pay 100x, and the game awards 15 free spins in one of four modes chosen by a wheel.
What is the difference between Free Spins 1 and Free Spins 2?
In Free Spins 1, an orb only joins the total multiplier when it lands on a winning spin. In Free Spins 2, every orb that lands is added to the total, win or not, and the total applies to every win for the rest of the round.
What do the Super free spins modes add?
Both Super modes set a minimum orb value of 10x. Three scatters during those rounds award five extra spins.
How is it different from Gates of Olympus 1000?
Gates of Olympus 1000 has orbs up to 1,000x, a 15,000x maximum win, one type of free spins round and a single 100x buy. The 2500 edition raises orbs to 2,500x and the ceiling to 25,000x, and replaces the single bonus with four wheel-selected modes, two of which keep every orb that lands.
Can free spins trigger during Super Spins?
No. Super Spin 1 guarantees an orb on every spin and Super Spin 2 guarantees an orb of 25x or more, but free spins cannot be triggered while either option is active.
