Quick verdict: the same candy grid with a much higher ceiling
Sugar Rush 1000 is Pragmatic Play's March 2024 rework of Sugar Rush (2022). The 7x7 cluster grid, tumbles and scatter-triggered free spins all carry over. The real change sits in one number: the highest value a multiplier spot can reach. The original stopped at x128. This version goes to x1,024. The published max win rises with it, from 5,000x to 25,000x the bet.
That one change reshapes the game. More of its long-run return now depends on rare free spins rounds where the same cells get hit over and over. Pragmatic rates the volatility as High. The RTP depends on which version a platform runs, so the figure in the game's info screen is the one that counts (details below). It suits players who like watching a grid build up across a feature and accept long quiet stretches between big results.
Sugar Rush 1000: key rules
| Spec | Detail |
|---|---|
| Win type | Cluster pays, 5+ matching symbols connected horizontally or vertically |
| Multiplier spot cap | x1,024 |
| Free spins trigger | 3 to 7 scatters for 10, 12, 15, 20 or 30 spins |
| Bonus buy | 100x (Free Spins) and 500x (Super Free Spins), where offered |
| Hit frequency (published estimate) | About 1 in 2.9 spins; free spins about 1 in 323 spins |
Why the jump from x128 to x1,024 matters
Start with how a spot grows, because everything else follows from it. Pragmatic's description goes in stages. When a winning symbol explodes, its cell is marked. If another winning symbol explodes on that marked cell, the cell gets a x2 multiplier. Each further explosion on the same cell doubles it again, up to the cap.
Count the steps. The first win on a cell only marks it. The second makes it x2. From there it runs x4, x8, x16, x32, x64, x128. In the original Sugar Rush, x128 is the end, so a cell is maxed after eight wins land on it.
Sugar Rush 1000 adds three more doublings: x256, x512 and x1,024. A cell now needs eleven wins before it stops growing. In the original, a cell that reached x128 had nothing left to give. Here that same cell still has three doublings to go, and each one doubles its value.
The second rule makes this matter even more. Published rule summaries describe how, when a cluster covers more than one multiplier spot, the multipliers add together rather than multiply. A cluster covering two x1,024 cells therefore gets x2,048, not x1,048,576. Adding keeps the numbers finite, but it still rewards clusters that cover many high-value cells at once.
The last piece is persistence. In the base game, marked cells and their multipliers clear when the tumble sequence ends. During free spins they stay for the whole round. So the higher cap mostly matters inside the feature. A base game tumble chain rarely lands enough wins on one cell to get past x128. A free spins round has 10 to 30 spins, plus retriggers, to keep growing the same cells.
Put simply, in the original the free spins round tended to fill up with maxed cells. Sugar Rush 1000 keeps a lot more headroom open in a long round. That extra headroom is where the 25,000x figure comes from.
One spin from drop to final tumble
Every spin fills all 49 cells. Wins need at least five identical symbols touching horizontally or vertically. Diagonals don't count, and there are no paylines. Winning clusters are removed, the symbols above fall down, new symbols drop in from the top, and the game checks again. This repeats until no new cluster forms.
Each explosion in that chain marks or upgrades cells, following the rules above. One spin with a long tumble chain can mark several cells and push a few of them to x2 or x4 before everything clears. Chains that keep hitting the same area of the grid are what build multipliers in the base game.
The paytable lists seven paying sweets, with the smallest clusters paying the least and 15+ clusters paying the most:
- Top sweet: 1x up to 150x the bet
- Second sweet: 0.75x up to 100x
- Third sweet: 0.5x up to 60x
- Fourth sweet: 0.4x up to 40x
- Three gummy symbols: 0.3x–30x, 0.25x–25x and 0.2x–20x
Those are base values before any multiplier. A 15+ cluster of the top symbol is 150x on its own. If that same cluster covers a x64 cell, it pays 9,600x. The paytable is modest; the spots do the heavy lifting.
The hit frequency is widely reported as about 1 in 2.9 spins. That means roughly a third of spins pay something, and most of those will be small clusters of low-value gummies. Because a cluster needs five touching symbols on a 49-cell grid, the smallest wins are common and the largest (15 or more of one sweet) are rare, which is why the top end of each paytable line matters far less in practice than the multiplier sitting underneath the cluster.
Free spins: where marked cells stop resetting
Triggering the round
Scatters trigger the feature. The scale is simple. Three, four, five, six or seven scatters landing in the same tumble sequence award 10, 12, 15, 20 or 30 free spins. Scatters that land during a tumble chain count toward the total, so a spin can start with two and add more as the grid refills.
The trigger rate is widely reported as about 1 in 323 base spins. That's a long-run average, not a schedule. A run of spins without a trigger doesn't make one any more likely, and a trigger soon after another one is just as possible as a long gap. Each spin is independent of the last.
What changes during the round
Only one thing: marked cells and their multipliers stay on the grid from the first free spin to the last. Each new tumble can mark fresh cells or upgrade existing ones. By the middle of a long round, parts of the grid can already hold multipliers before a spin even starts.
Retriggers
Three to seven scatters during the feature add another 10, 12, 15, 20 or 30 spins, the same scale as the trigger. Multipliers already on the grid carry into the extra spins. This is why retriggers matter more here than in most games: extra spins mean more chances to build on cells that are already high.
Super Free Spins
The second buy option starts Super Free Spins, a version of the round that is described as buy-only rather than something you can land in normal play. It opens with multipliers already sitting on the grid, so the first tumbles of the round can pay extra straight away. Some versions describe a tiered layout (x16 in the centre, x8, x4 and x2 on the rings around it) rather than flat x2 starting spots; check the game's rules screen for the layout in use.
Either way, the idea is the same. Super Free Spins skips the early part of the round where cells have to be marked before they can pay extra.
The two buy buttons and what they cost
Where platforms offer it, Sugar Rush 1000 has two feature buys:
- Free Spins for 100x the bet. Starts the standard round, with the grid clear and every cell waiting to be marked. The published RTP for this buy is 96.52%.
- Super Free Spins for 500x the bet. Starts the round with pre-set multipliers. The published RTP is 96.55%; some versions list 96.44%, so check the buy screen or rules for the figure in use.
These figures are close to the base game's top listed RTPs. Buying doesn't improve long-run return in any meaningful way. It just skips the base game and concentrates results into fewer, more expensive rounds. At 500x a go, a few buys use up a lot of virtual coins, and many rounds will return less than they cost.
For the original Sugar Rush, the buy is reported as unavailable in the UK. Feature buys are often switched off by market, so don't assume either button will appear. The price is also always a multiple of the current stake, so changing the bet size changes the cost of each buy in the same proportion.
Reading the RTP across Sugar Rush 1000 versions
Pragmatic Play's own game page shows 96.00%. Other versions of the game list 97.50%, 96.53% and 95.50%, and a 94.50% setting is also reported. Operators choose which build to run, and the game's help screen shows the figure for the build actually in use. That's the only number that applies to a given session, so it's worth opening the rules before you settle in.
What any of these numbers means is fairly concrete. RTP is a long-run average across a huge number of spins. At 96.53%, the design returns 96.53 coins per 100 wagered over the game's lifetime. At 95.50%, it's 95.50. On a single evening's play, that gap is swamped by variance. Across millions of spins it's a real difference.
Volatility explains why short sessions stray so far from the RTP. Pragmatic rates Sugar Rush 1000 High, and the in-game volatility meter is widely reported to show 5 out of 5. The higher cap makes that rating make sense. A large share of the return is saved for rare rounds where cells climb past x128 and big clusters land on them. The routine one-in-three base game hits give back far less than 96% on their own.
Reaching 25,000x in Sugar Rush 1000
The max win is 25,000x the bet, as listed on Pragmatic Play's game page. That's five times the original's 5,000x. The game page doesn't list odds of reaching it, and it is best read as a ceiling built into the design rather than a result the game is expected to produce in any normal session.
Reaching it takes several things at once:
- A free spins round long enough, often through retriggers, for cells to climb well past x128.
- Clusters of high-value sweets landing on those cells.
- Several high multipliers adding together within a single cluster.
A single 15+ top-symbol cluster is 150x before multipliers, so a 25,000x result needs combined multipliers in the low hundreds on one big cluster, or many strong tumbles in a row. The x1,024 cap makes that possible; under x128 it was out of reach. As with most Pragmatic games carrying a stated max win, the figure is a cap, not a typical big win.
Sugar Rush 1000 against the original Sugar Rush
Keeping the two sets of specs separate:
| Sugar Rush (original) | Sugar Rush 1000 | |
|---|---|---|
| Release | June 2022 (exclusive 16 June, wide 30 June) | March 2024 |
| Grid and wins | 7x7, 5+ clusters | 7x7, 5+ clusters |
| Spot cap | x128 | x1,024 |
| Max win | 5,000x | 25,000x |
| RTP | 96.50% on Pragmatic's page; 96.50% / 95.5% / 94.5% versions also listed | Varies by version (see above) |
| Volatility | High (5/5) | High |
| Free spins scale | 10/12/15/20/30 for 3–7 scatters | 10/12/15/20/30 for 3–7 scatters |
| Buy options | 100x free spins (market-dependent) | 100x Free Spins and 500x Super Free Spins |
The basics are identical: same grid size, same cluster minimum, same scatter scale, same spot mechanic. The 1000 version changes three things: the cap, the max win, and the added Super Free Spins buy. Pragmatic's "1000" series follows this approach across other titles too. It takes an existing hit and raises the top multiplier, rather than building new features.
If the original already felt too swingy, this one pushes further in that direction. If the original's x128 cap felt like it cut off good rounds too early, this is the fix.
Who Sugar Rush 1000 suits
It suits players who:
- Like watching a grid build up during free spins, where every tumble can raise existing cells.
- Accept high volatility, with long base game stretches of small clusters between bigger moments.
- Already know the original and want the same rules with more headroom.
It's a poorer fit for anyone who wants steady, even results, or who prefers features that reward you quickly. The base paytable is small; the game's appeal is almost entirely in the multipliers.
What Sugar Rush 1000 gets right, and where it falls short
Pros
- The x1,024 cap adds three more doublings, so strong free spins rounds keep growing where the original stopped.
- Rules are simple: one grid, one spot mechanic, one feature, with no extra modifiers to learn.
- Retriggers keep the multipliers already on the grid, so extra spins build on existing value.
- The 25,000x max win is five times the original's ceiling.
Cons
- The RTP depends on the version the platform runs, so you need to check the help screen.
- High volatility means much of the return comes from rare rounds.
- The Super Free Spins starting layout differs between published descriptions, so it's worth reading the rules screen.
Sugar Rush 1000 FAQ
What is the RTP of Sugar Rush 1000?
It depends on the version. Pragmatic Play's game page shows 96.00%. Versions at 97.50%, 96.53%, 95.50% and 94.50% are also listed. The in-game rules show the version you're playing.
How high can a multiplier spot go?
Up to x1,024. A cell is marked on its first win, becomes x2 on its second, and doubles with each win after that. That's eleven wins on the same cell to reach the cap.
Do multipliers stay between spins?
Not in the base game: marked cells clear when a tumble sequence ends. During free spins, they stay until the round finishes.
How many scatters trigger free spins?
Three or more. Three to seven scatters award 10, 12, 15, 20 or 30 free spins. Landing three or more during the round adds the same number again.
What is the max win?
25,000x the bet, five times the original's 5,000x ceiling. It needs a long free spins round with several high multiplier spots under big clusters.
What is the difference from the original Sugar Rush?
The original's spots cap at x128 and its max win is 5,000x. Sugar Rush 1000 raises these to x1,024 and 25,000x, and adds a 500x Super Free Spins buy. The grid, cluster size and scatter scale are the same.
Can you buy the bonus?
Where platforms enable it, yes: 100x the bet for Free Spins, or 500x for Super Free Spins with multipliers already on the grid. Availability varies by market.
Is Sugar Rush 1000 high volatility?
Yes. Pragmatic rates it High, and the in-game meter shows 5 out of 5.
