Quick verdict: the kennel wild now multiplies instead of adding

The Dog House Megaways 1000 keeps the furniture of Pragmatic Play's dog franchise: kennel wilds on the middle reels, a free spins round where you pick between sticky wilds and wilds that drop in at random, and six Megaways reels with up to 117,649 ways. What changes is the arithmetic. Wilds now carry values from 1x to 1,000x, and when two or more sit in the same winning way, their values are multiplied together. In the earlier The Dog House Megaways, wilds carried 2x or 3x and were added.

That single rule is why this game exists as a separate release. It lifts the published maximum to 25,000x the bet, and it comes with two Super Bonus levels unlocked by Super Scatters plus a menu of special bets and buys running up to 2,500x the stake. Pragmatic Play lists a 96.5% RTP but no volatility rating, so any volatility label you see elsewhere is not the studio's own.

Reading the "1,000" in the title correctly

The "1000" in the name is not the top prize. Pragmatic Play's game page describes wild multipliers "carrying values of up to 1,000x", while the studio's launch announcement separately lists prizes of up to 25,000x the bet. The 1,000 is the cap on one wild's multiplier; 25,000x is the cap on what the game awards.

Because several wilds can combine by multiplication, their product can theoretically run far past 25,000x. That makes the 25,000x cap the real limit on any spin.

Published rule summaries list eight values a wild can land with: 1x, 2x, 3x, 5x, 10x, 25x, 100x or 1,000x. How often each value appears has not been published. The list does show the shape of the ladder: six modest steps up to 25x, then two very large jumps.

How a base-game spin resolves across six Megaways reels

Each spin sets every reel's height between two and seven symbols. Multiply the six heights and you get the ways in play, peaking at 117,649 when every reel shows seven (7 to the sixth power). Wins form from matching symbols on adjacent reels starting at reel 1, as in other Megaways games.

The paytable has two tiers. The card ranks 10, J, Q, K and A pay between 0.5x and 1x the bet for six of a kind. The premium tier, a bone, a collar and several dog breeds, pays between 1.5x and 7.5x the bet for six. The top symbol, a rottweiler, pays 7.5x for six. Some versions name the other breeds differently; the paytable screen shows the artwork in use.

Those values are small by design. On a grid with tens of thousands of ways, single way wins stay modest and the wild multipliers do the heavy lifting. The hit frequency is widely reported as 23.75%, or about one winning spin in 4.21. In plain terms, roughly three spins in four return nothing, and most of the fourth are small line-level wins that the wild multipliers occasionally transform.

The kennel wild lands only on reels 2, 3, 4 and 5. It substitutes for every paying symbol but not for the scatter or Super Scatter. Since reels 1 and 6 never show a wild, every winning way needs a real symbol on reel 1.

The multiplication rule: what two kennel wilds do to one win

This is where the 1000 version departs from its predecessors. The figures below are simple arithmetic on the published rule, not records of real spins.

Wilds in one wayAdded (older Megaways rule)Multiplied (1000 rule)
2x and 3x5x6x
5x and 10x15x50x
10x and 25x35x250x
25x and 100x125x2,500x
2x, 5x and 10x17x100x

Add the paytable. A way of six rottweilers, listed at 7.5x the bet, passing through one 10x wild is paid at 75x. Add a 25x wild on the same way and the multiplier becomes 250x, so that one way pays 1,875x. A single 1,000x wild on the same way would take it to 7,500x by itself.

Wilds can occupy four reels, so one way can pass through four wilds. Four 1,000x wilds would give a multiplier of one trillion, which shows why a hard cap exists. In practice the 25,000x ceiling stops every combination. Because the top wild values sit at the far end of the ladder, spins that line up several of them on a premium way are, by design, very rare.

Multiplication also changes the bottom of the ladder. A 1x wild adds nothing to a product, so it acts as a plain substitute. The low end is gentler than an additive system and the high end far steeper.

Free spins: wilds that stay, or wilds that drop in

Three, four, five or six scatters trigger 7, 12, 15 or 20 free spins. The count scales with the scatters, so a six-scatter trigger gives almost three times as many spins as a three-scatter one, which matters most in the sticky mode where each extra spin gives held wilds another chance to pay. Before the first spin, you pick a mode.

Sticky Wilds Free Spins

  1. Choose Sticky Wilds after the trigger.
  2. Each spin sets new reel heights, as in the base game.
  3. Any wild landing on reels 2 to 5 locks in place with its multiplier. Published rule summaries note that held wilds resize to fit the changing reel heights.
  4. Every later spin evaluates all ways with the locked wilds still present, multiplying values where a way crosses several.
  5. The round ends after the last spin; published rule summaries describe no retrigger.

The appeal is accumulation: a wild from spin two works on every spin that follows. The drawback is that a round with few early wilds has little time to build.

Random Wilds Free Spins

  1. Choose Random Wilds after the trigger.
  2. On each spin, up to six wilds are added at random to reels 2 to 5. Pragmatic Play's page describes "up to six wild multipliers" landing on every spin.
  3. Each added wild carries a value from the same 1x to 1,000x range.
  4. Ways crossing several wilds multiply their values.
  5. The added wilds are cleared before the next spin. No retrigger.

With up to six wilds spread over only four eligible reels, some spins will place two wilds on one reel, increasing how many ways cross multiple wilds at once.

In the older The Dog House Megaways, the random option (called Raining Wilds there) awarded more spins than the sticky option, 15, 18, 25 or 30 against 7, 12, 15 or 20. For the 1000 version, only the 7, 12, 15 and 20 counts are published, and no separate count is described for Random Wilds.

Super Scatters and the two Super Bonus levels

The 1000 version adds a Super Scatter, which decides which of three bonus levels you enter. Published rule summaries describe them like this:

  • Standard free spins: 3 to 6 regular scatters only. You choose Sticky or Random Wilds.
  • Super Free Spins (first level): a 3-to-6 scatter trigger including at least one regular scatter and at least one Super Scatter. The round is described with both random wilds and sticky wilds on reels 2 to 5.
  • All Super Bonus Free Spins (second level): 3, 4, 5 or 6 Super Scatters only, for 7, 12, 15 or 20 spins. All wilds are described as converting to sticky wilds.

Pragmatic Play's own wording is shorter: Super Scatters unlock two levels of super bonus games which can both feature sticky and random wilds. Published rule summaries add that these levels guarantee wilds on each spin and keep all wilds locked. The exact number of guaranteed wilds per spin is not published by the studio; the in-game rules screen is the place to check it.

Under the multiplication rule this combination matters. Wilds are added every spin and they stay, so ways crossing several of them multiply all their values. That is the most direct route the game offers towards its cap.

Ante bet, Super Spins and the feature buy menu

The game prices its options in two ways: as multiples of the stake, and in 20-coin base bet units. Divide the coin figure by 20 and you get the stake multiple, so both columns below describe the same prices.

OptionStake multiple20-coin unitsEffect
Ante bet3x60About 10 times the chance of triggering free spins
Super Spin 120x400At least 2 wilds per spin; free spins cannot trigger
Super Spin 2500x10,000At least 3 wilds, one of 25x or more; free spins cannot trigger
Buy Free Spins100x—Standard free spins
Buy Super Free Spins 1500x—First Super Bonus level
Buy Super Free Spins 22,500x—Second Super Bonus level; check the in-game rules for its exact wild terms

The Super Spins are unusual. They give up any chance of free spins in exchange for guaranteed wilds on every base spin. The 100x standard buy matches the price in The Dog House Megaways. Separate RTP figures for these options are not published, so do not assume each one returns exactly 96.5%.

What 96.5% means here, and the missing volatility label

The default RTP is 96.5%, with 95.5% and 94.5% versions also listed. RTP describes the long-run design: over a very large number of spins, the default version returns an average of 96.5 units per 100 staked, and the 94.5% version two units fewer. Neither says anything about a single session. The version in use is set by the distributor; the game's information screen is where to check it.

Pragmatic Play has not published a volatility rating, and labels elsewhere range from medium to high. The rules say more than the label. A hit roughly every 4.21 spins means frequent small returns. Free spins need at least three scatters, so long stretches without a bonus are a normal part of the design. The wild ladder jumps from 25x straight to 100x and then 1,000x, and values multiply, so the extreme end of the range is thin but very tall. Together these describe a game whose return mostly comes from routine small wins and occasional bonuses, with rare, very large results produced by multiplying wilds.

The lower RTP versions matter here too. A two-point drop from 96.5% to 94.5% does not change how the features look or play; the rules, the wild values and the cap stay the same. What changes is the long-run average return, which is why the information screen is worth a glance before a session.

Where a 25,000x result can come from

No single feature is labelled the max win route, but the rules point to four places where large multiplier products can form:

  • Base game: two high-value wilds on a premium way can produce a big win without a bonus. The least likely route.
  • Sticky Wilds free spins: held wilds build up over 7 to 20 spins.
  • Random Wilds free spins: up to six new wilds per spin on four reels.
  • Super Bonus levels: wilds both added and held, the most direct route.

Whatever the route, the award stops at 25,000x the bet. Reaching the cap depends on the random values the wilds land with and where they fall; no earlier run of spins makes it more or less likely on the next one.

The Dog House (2019) is the 5x3, 20-line original. Pragmatic Play's page describes multiplier wilds on reels 2, 3 and 4 and sticky wilds in free spins. Published rule summaries add that the free spins count of 9 to 27 is decided by a reveal after three paw scatters land on reels 1, 3 and 5, and that the game has no buy.

The Dog House Megaways moved the idea onto Megaways reels and introduced the sticky-or-raining choice, balancing non-persistent raining wilds with more spins. It is widely reported with a 12,305x max and a 100x buy.

The Dog House Megaways 1000 keeps that layout and choice but swaps the additive 2x/3x wild for a multiplicative 1x-to-1,000x wild, covers four reels, and adds the Super Bonus levels. Its 25,000x cap is roughly double the Megaways version's and nearly four times the original's.

Who The Dog House Megaways 1000 suits

It suits players who know the Dog House format and want the same decisions with a much wider spread of outcomes. The sticky-or-random choice is familiar, but it carries more weight when each wild could be anything from 1x to 1,000x. It also suits anyone who likes working through a game's maths, since the multiplication rule can be worked through on paper and the hit frequency is widely reported.

It suits players less if they prefer the plain 20-line original, or dislike long runs without a bonus. With free spins needing three or more scatters and small single way wins, much of the time is spent in the base game waiting for wilds.

The case for and against The Dog House Megaways 1000

Pros

  • Multiplying wilds of up to 1,000x lift the familiar format to a 25,000x ceiling.
  • The sticky-or-random choice is kept, and two Super Bonus levels combine both mechanics.
  • A reported 23.75% hit rate means roughly one spin in four returns something.
  • Wilds cover four reels, against three in the original.

Cons

  • No official volatility rating, and labels elsewhere range from medium to high.
  • Lower RTP versions of 95.5% and 94.5% exist and are not always obvious.
  • Base way wins are small (0.5x to 7.5x for six of a kind), so results lean heavily on wilds and bonuses.

Questions about The Dog House Megaways 1000

Is the max win 1,000x or 25,000x?

25,000x the bet. The 1,000x figure is the top multiplier a single wild can carry.

How do the wild multipliers combine?

When two or more wilds are part of the same winning way, their values are multiplied. A 5x and a 10x wild give 50x, not 15x.

Which reels can wilds land on?

Reels 2, 3, 4 and 5. Reels 1 and 6 never show a wild.

How many free spins can you get?

Three to six scatters award 7, 12, 15 or 20 free spins. Published rule summaries describe no retrigger.

What is the difference between Sticky Wilds and Random Wilds?

Sticky Wilds keep every wild that lands until the round ends. Random Wilds add up to six wilds to reels 2 to 5 each spin and clear them afterwards.

What does the Super Scatter do?

It unlocks two Super Bonus levels: a mix of regular and Super Scatters leads to the first, and Super Scatters alone lead to the second. Both combine sticky and random wild mechanics.

What is the RTP?

The default is 96.5%. Versions at 95.5% and 94.5% are also listed.

Can you buy the bonus?

Published rule summaries list standard free spins for 100x the bet, Super Free Spins 1 for 500x and Super Free Spins 2 for 2,500x.
