The case for Red Tiger in brief
Red Tiger's best-known creation sits around its games rather than inside them. The Daily Drop Jackpots network adds timed jackpots to participating slots, and that network is the main reason operators and players know the studio. The games themselves are varied and released at a steady pace. Most are built on one of Red Tiger's trademarked reel systems.
We don't list any Red Tiger games on SlotsRanker yet. The demo network we use carries 370 titles from this studio.
Built by a team with a track record
iGaming Business reported that Red Tiger was founded in 2014 by the team behind Cayetano Gaming. By 2019 it had about 170 staff across Malta, the Isle of Man and Bulgaria. That September, NetEnt agreed to buy the whole company. Red Tiger's chief executive at the time, Gavin Hamilton, said the deal would give the studio access to NetEnt's distribution network.
When Evolution completed its takeover of NetEnt in 2020, Red Tiger became part of Evolution too. Evolution now lists it as a separate brand and describes it as known for "a steady stream of high-quality slot releases".
How the Daily Drop Jackpots network works
According to Evolution, Red Tiger created the Daily Drop Jackpots Network, a system that distributes hourly and daily jackpots across participating games. Because the network pools across many operators, smaller operators can offer the same network-wide jackpots as larger ones.
The key idea is timing. A standard progressive jackpot can grow for a long time before it is won. A timed drop is designed to be awarded within a set period, so each jackpot has a deadline. That changes how the jackpot fits into a session, although it doesn't change the maths of the slot it sits on.
Evolution also lists two operator tools alongside the network: Smart Spins, a bonus management tool, and Tournaments, a competition feature.
The trademarked reel systems
Evolution names three Red Tiger mechanics:
- Power Reels. A trademarked reel format used across a range of titles.
- ClusterBuster. Used in Dragons ClusterBuster, released in April 2022. A 3x3 dragon egg sits in the middle of the grid. Cluster wins next to the egg break parts of it, and breaking the whole egg unlocks features on the next spin, ending with a Fire Egg that triggers 10 free spins. That game's top award is 5,250x the stake.
- Everyway. A third trademarked format listed by Evolution.
The ClusterBuster design shows Red Tiger's approach well. The grid has a visible goal in the centre, and every cluster win moves you towards it.
Megaways and shared franchises
Red Tiger also makes Megaways games. Evolution's list of its titles includes Piggy Riches 2 Megaways and Gonzo's Quest Megaways. Gonzo's Quest is originally a NetEnt game, so a Red Tiger version shows how brands within the Evolution group share franchises. Other titles Evolution highlights include Bounty Raid and 777 Strike.
RTP and volatility
We haven't found a Red Tiger or Evolution document that states how many RTP versions the studio supplies, or how the jackpot network affects each game's published RTP. We don't make general claims about either. When Red Tiger games are added to SlotsRanker, each game page will show its own verified figures.
Red Tiger next to its Evolution siblings
NetEnt is the classic designer in the Evolution group, and Nolimit City makes the most extreme games. Red Tiger sits between them. It releases more often than Nolimit City, its mechanics are more varied than NetEnt's classics, and its jackpot network adds something neither of the other two is known for.
Who Red Tiger suits
Red Tiger suits players who like having a jackpot with a deadline alongside the base game, and players who want to try a range of reel formats from one studio. It suits players less if they want one clear design identity, because the catalogue is broad.
Pros and cons
Pros
- Daily Drop Jackpots add a time-based jackpot to many slots.
- Several trademarked reel formats, including ClusterBuster.
- A steady, consistent release schedule.
Cons
- The broad catalogue has a less distinct identity than some studios'.
- None of its games are on SlotsRanker yet.
