Wazdan at a glance

Most studios decide a game's volatility for you. Wazdan lets you choose it. Its Volatility Levels feature offers three settings inside the same game, and that one design choice explains most of the studio's appeal. Add the Hold the Jackpot series, which gives the familiar hold-and-win format a consistent look, and you have a studio that is easy to recognise.

We don't list any Wazdan games on SlotsRanker yet. The demo network we use carries 373 titles from this studio.

A Maltese studio with a long licence list

Wazdan's own history page says the company was founded in 2010, the same year it received its Malta Gaming Authority licence. Its published licence reference is MGA/B2B/206/2011. The company lists its office on Dragonara Road in St Julian's, Malta, and Michał Imiołek is Group CEO.

Its timeline shows how the studio grew:

  • 2015: moved its games to HTML5 and reached 50 titles.
  • 2018: received a UK Gambling Commission licence and introduced Volatility Levels.
  • 2021: entered the US and launched the Hold the Jackpot series.
  • 2023: added the Chance Level feature and the Jackpot Rain promotional tool, and won an award for Mystery Drop.
  • 2025: entered Brazil, passed 300 titles and launched the Burning Board game line.

Besides the UK and Malta, Wazdan lists approvals in New Jersey, Michigan, West Virginia, Ontario, Sweden, Romania, Greece and Denmark, among more than 30 other jurisdictions.

Volatility Levels: the choice explained

Wazdan presented the feature at ICE in 2018. It works like this:

SettingWhat Wazdan says it does
LowMore frequent wins, smaller amounts
StandardA balanced mix of win size and frequency
HighLarger wins, less often

In 2021 Wazdan extended the feature so casino managers could set a default level for their players. At the time, the studio said it was the only supplier offering games with three volatility levels. Its chief commercial officer, Andrzej Hyla, described the change as bringing added value to operators.

This matters because volatility is usually fixed. The same theme and symbols can play very differently at each setting, so one Wazdan game effectively works as three.

Wazdan's material doesn't say whether changing the level changes a game's RTP, so we don't make that claim. Where a game page shows the RTP, it's worth checking it at each setting.

Hold the Jackpot and the other in-house tools

The Hold the Jackpot series, launched in 2021, is Wazdan's version of the hold-and-win format. In this format, special symbols lock in place and respins continue while new ones land, with jackpot tiers at the top. Wazdan brands it as one series, so its games share a recognisable structure.

The studio also lists several other trademarked features:

  • Collect to Infinity, a collection mechanic.
  • Chance Level, which Wazdan added in 2023.
  • Mystery Drop, a promotional tool that won an industry award in 2023.
  • Ultra Fast mode, which speeds up spins.
  • Jackpot Rain, an operator promotional tool.

Wazdan doesn't publish detailed rules for all of these on its history page, so we list them without describing mechanics we couldn't verify.

RTP and what we can say

Apart from Volatility Levels, we haven't found a Wazdan document on how many RTP versions it supplies. When Wazdan games are added to SlotsRanker, each page will show the verified RTP and the volatility setting used for its figures.

Who Wazdan suits

Wazdan suits players who want to control how a game feels, for example starting on Low to learn a game and moving to High later. It also suits fans of hold-and-win games who like a consistent series format. It is less suited to players looking for large, cascading grid slots, which aren't what the studio is known for.

Pros and cons

Pros

  • Volatility Levels let you choose low, standard or high in the same game.
  • Published licence reference and a detailed company timeline.
  • A recognisable Hold the Jackpot series.

Cons

  • The effect of each volatility setting on RTP isn't documented in the sources we found.
  • None of its games are on SlotsRanker yet.
